Research

Learning how experiences of hardship, such as growth arrest from poor nutrition or chronic illness, are manifested in the skeleton helps us to understand human-environmental interactions in the past and present. My current research explores how traces of an individual’s experiences of stress and disease are embodied in their hard tissues – teeth and bones – on a microscopic level.
