Abstract:
The landscape of graduate education is changing rapidly, with increasing presence of online programs, competency-driven masters programs, doctoral students who aspire to careers outside of academia, and students from groups that have traditionally been underrepresented in graduate education. This seminar will address issues that are inherent in this evolution including (a) the nature of “student affairs” at the graduate level, (b) strategies to recruit and retain graduate students from underrepresented groups, and (c) graduate student mentoring and preparation for diverse career paths.
