Streams are among the most dynamic ecosystems in nature. The stream environments drastically change as the flow level changes, and arrival of massive migratory animals such as fishes and shrimps also create dynamic changes in the ecosystem. In the first half of the talk, I will introduce some case studies where seasonal migration of stream biota such as aquatic insects, shrimps, and fishes largely influence stream ecosystems. Then, I will further introduce a study demonstrating how temporal changes in flow support spatially highly dynamic stream environments and support high biodiversity.
