Dr. Olav Rueppell wins award to screen for virus content and resistance of honey bees

The honey bee group of Dr. Olav Rueppell was awarded a grant from the non-profit organization Project ApisM to conduct research to improve honey bee health. The funds will support a graduate student to screen the virus content of honey bee queen from several major sources and test the virus resistance of their offspring so that virus resistance can be incorporated into ongoing honey bee breeding programs and improve honey bee health.
