Department of Biology hosted 13th Southern Appalachian Honeybee Research Consortium (SAHRC) student and postdoc symposium

Attended by 60 honey bee enthusiasts from nine academic institutions, this year’s interdisciplinary SAHRC symposium was held in the UNCG Alumni Center on the 25th of February. Topics of the 20 oral presentations ranged from cellular ion channels that curtail virus replication, genomic patterns of recombination, and pesticide effects on synaptic organization to analyses of pollinator communities, sustainable efforts to improve bee health, and artificial intelligence identifying pest hive management practices.
