Talia Hatkevich graduated with her master’s degree in biology from UNCG in May 2013 and completed her thesis work in Dr. Patel’s lab. She is currently in her fourth year of her PhD program at UNC and is studying meiotic recombination mechanisms in Drosophila in Dr. Jeff Sekelsky’s lab. She stated that UNCG was pivotal in her development as a scientist, and her future goals include having a research program at an R1 institution.
