Undeclared Majors
Undergraduates with less than 24 earned credit hours are advised via the College of Arts & Sciences Advising center. You can contact CASA via email: casa@uncg.edu, or via phone: (336) 334-4361.
Transfer Students
Transfer students with less than 24 earned credit hours need to contact the College of Arts & Sciences Advising to schedule an appointment to be advised. Transfer students majoring in biology with greater than 24 earned credit hours will be assigned a biology advisor.
Incoming Freshmen
All new freshmen will be advised at SOAR.
Students with any other questions or concerns are welcome to contact the UNCG Biology Department via email: bio@uncg.edu. Please be sure to use your valid UNCG email when emailing the department about advising questions or concerns; using a third party email address may cause unforeseeable delays in assisting you with your query.
Pre-med, pre-dental, pre-vet, and other pre-professional track interests
All undergraduate students who are on a pre-professional track, such as pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, pre-veterinary medicine, etc., will have a pre-professional advisor assigned to them in addition to their major program advisor. This advisor’s name will be listed beneath the major advisor at the top of the DegreeWorks evaluation in UNCGenie. Students should see this pre-professional advisor early and often to discuss how to plan coursework and experiential activities to create a competitive application to the professional school of their choice.
Post-baccalaureate Students
All incoming post-baccalaureate students should contact Robin Maxwell (rgmaxwel@uncg.edu) to plan out their coursework at UNCG and receive their advising code for the first semester. Appointments can be made by contacting the Biology departmental office at (336)334-5391 and requesting a phone or in-person appointment once all transferred coursework has been processed.
