This page includes instructions for students seeking information about advising in the UNCG Biology Department. This information is only pertinent to the Biology Department and does not apply to any other academic departments on campus.
Undergraduate majors will receive their advising code from their advisor for Fall 2016 advising due to new program requirements. Students should contact their advisor to make an advising appointment to receive their advising code well in advance of the registration deadline. Instructions on finding your advisor can be found below.
Undergraduate biology majors requiring advising during the Summer Sessions need to contact the Biology Department via email: bio@uncg.edu, for an advisor that has summer availability. Please be advised that not every faculty member is available in the summer and the available faculty members will meet with you as their schedule permits.
Undergraduates with less than 24 earned credit hours are advised via the College of Arts & Sciences Advising center. You can contact CASA via email: casa@uncg.edu, or via phone: (336) 334-4361.
Transfer students with less than 24 earned credit hours need to contact the College of Arts & Sciences Advising to schedule an appointment to be advised. Transfer students with greater than 24 earned credit hours will be advised as undergraduate majors. (See above section.)

Please be sure to use your valid UNCG email when emailing the department about advising questions or concerns; using a third party email address may cause unforseeable delays in assisting you with your query.
All undergraduate students who have declared a second major in a health related field, such as pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, pre-veterinary medicine, etc., will have a second Pre-professional advisor assigned to them. This advisor’s name will be listed beneath the major advisor at the top of the DegreeWorks evaluation in UNCGenie. Students should see this Pre-professional advisor early and often to discuss how to plan coursework and experiential activities to create a competitive application to the professional school of their choice.
All incoming post-baccalaureate students should contact Robin Maxwell to plan out their coursework at UNCG and receive their advising code for the first semester. Appointments can be made by contacting the Biology departmental office at (336)334-5391 and requesting a phone on in-person appointment once all transferred coursework has been processed.
