I graduated from the department of agroecology at Aarhus University, Denmark, where I studied the virus transmission routs from worker and drone to queens in honey bee colonies. In my current research in collaboration with Dr. Olav Rueppell (University of North Carolina at Greensboro), Dr. David Tarpy (North Carolina State University), and Dr. Micheline Strand (Army Research Office), my main focus is to assess the potential of inducible stress defense mechanisms to improve honey bee health and to test fundamental hypotheses of social evolution.
